Rod Jetton: New Year’s Resolutions for Some Famous Politicos

Here are my ideas on what I think a few of our leaders New Year’s resolutions might be.

President Obama– I’m going to start being non-partisan, stop the name calling and work with everyone in Washington just like I promised in 2008.

Vice-President Biden– I promise to stop saying stupid stuff so folks won’t say I’m stupid.

Secretary Hillary Clinton– I’m going to force the President to stand strong for Israel, and I’m going to stop listening to Bill tell me how I need to take Obama on!

Speaker Boehner– I’m going to keep my temper under control and resist the urge to momma slap the President in the Oval Office.  And I’m going to try not to momma slap those pesky fiscal Republican members as well.

Former Speaker Pelosi– I promise to momma slap the President next time he backs down and undercuts our negotiations.  And I’m going to smack down that skinny Eric Cantor just because I can!

Senate Majority Leader Reid– I’m going to start treating the Republicans nice so I can get a good office when they take over the Senate next year.

Senate Minority Leader McConnell– I promise to put Sen. Jim DeMint and his uncompromising friends in the smallest office I can find, if I hang on to leader job after the election.

Former President George W. Bush– I’m going to ask Obama why he gave me such a hard time when I was President. Then I’m going to tell Dick to keep bringing the heat!

Former President Bill Clinton– I will keep reminding everyone that when I was President everything was wonderful.  I also promise to help Hillary take Obama out. We Democrats only need me and FDR to be two termers anyway!!

Former Vice President Cheney– I promise to be more careful when I go hunting, and I promise to waterboard all the Republican presidential candidates until they pledge to increase defense spending.

=========

While I am poking a bit of fun at our leaders, I too have a resolution for the New Year.

I promise to laugh often, criticize less and help others more.  I also wish both parties well as they guide us through these perilous times!  They will all be in my prayers.
