With Sean Payton suspended for the season the Saints have begun to search for potential replacements for the 2012 season. One named that has floated around has been Bill Parcells. Parcells recently said that a stint with the Saints is not outside the realm of possibility. [ESPN]

Politics and sports collide once again as Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL)is setting up a Judiciary Committee to look into bounty programs in football and potentially other sports. This, of course, was spurred by the New Orleans Saints own bounty program that has just recently brought down heavy sanctions on the program. [ESPN]

This week Sean Payton became the first coach to be suspended by the NFL. Payton received a 1 year suspension and is gone for the entirety of the 2012 season as punishment for the Saints bounty/pay-for-play program. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has been suspended indefinitely and his case will be reviewed after the season. Payton will not be paid during his suspension meaning that he will lose approximately $7 million in salary. [ESPN]

Here is your video of the Denver Broncos introducing Peyton Manning as their new QB. The biggest free agent is now off the market. [Yahoo! Sports]

The 2012 NFL free agency is officially underway and there is a lot of news of visits, workouts, and signings floating around. Let’s start with Peyton Manning who reportedly spent 6 hours at Cardinals HQ recently. [Houston Chronicle]

Another of the blockbuster names available is former Texans DE Mario Williams. He is currently visiting with a number of teams. [ESPN]

The Lions signed Calvin Johnson to a huge 7 year contract extension. [Twitter]

The Bears finally got Jay Cutler some receiver help in the form of his old teammate Brandon Marshall. [ESPN]

The Cowboys were able to pick up Kyle Orton who will give them some added depth at QB. [Twitter]

Drew Brees is none too happy with the franchise tag that the Saints stuck on him. [NBC Sports]
